WEEKLY REFLECTIONS

Wind and Rain: “Notice Anything Different?”
If there’s one safe topic you can talk about with anyone, it’s the weather!  You may pick and choose carefully who you discuss issues of politics, religion, or even sports with, but you can talk to anyone about the weather.  The old saying goes, “If you don’t like the weather in Kentucky, wait 5 minutes because it will change!”  We talk about the weather when it’s too hot, too cold, too dry, or too rainy.  We complain when our favorite season is too short, or when our least favorite season drags on.  Like it or not, the weather is a fickle topic!

In the Old Testament, the minor prophet book of Joel showed how God’s people, who were heavily agricultural and totally dependent on the weather, had brought God’s judgment on themselves.  Due to their sin, God judged them by bringing poor weather conditions, locusts, and destruction to their way of life.  They were called to repent of their sin, and trust that God would restore them, by bringing the wind and rain they desperately needed!

Our country, our community, and our church all need what only God can bring.  We need to see God move in a fresh, new, and powerful way. So, we are going to dive into the book of Joel for the next several weeks.  Together, as a church family, we are going to ask God to move in our church, so that we can have an effective impact on our community, so that our country might see the moving of God even more!  Join me in prayer for this coming Sunday as we begin asking God for “Wind and Rain!”
