WEEKLY REFLECTIONS

Thank you, Captain Obvious!
Most of the time, if something is obvious, you don’t need to point it out to someone, and someone doesn’t need to point it out to you!  You get it.  You see it.  You already know about it. Why would we ever mention something that might even be “painfully obvious?”  For the sake of being labeled as Captain Obvious, I’m going to tell you a few things that you already know, but you may need me to point out anyway.

The church is built on relationships.  If we had no relationship with God through Christ, and had no relationships with one another, our church would not exist.  Every time we gather together, our goal within three types of relationships is to grow closer to God, grow closer to one another, and to bring others into the fellowship we have with God and each other.  Without meaningful relationship, we might as well stay home.
So, this August, we are doing something to enhance all three of those types of relationships.  By being part of a Life Group, you will grow in your relationship with God through prayer and through discussion of the message you’ll hear on Sunday morning.  By being part of a Life Group, you will grow in your relationships and fellowship with others, by sharing your heart with them and showing real concern for their lives.  And, by bring part of a Life Group, you will be able to invite others who need to know Christ or need Christian fellowship, and your group will enable those to happen.

This Sunday morning, I’m going to ask you to respond to a call to be part of a Life Group, by filling out a commitment card that simply asks you if you are willing to be part.  Once you say yes, you’ll be assigned to a group based on where you live.  You will be on a journey with people, twice a month, in someone’s home, and growing deeper in God’s word!  I’m so excited for our church family to take this crucial step in deepening our walk with God, and with each other!
