WEEKLY REFLECTIONS

Attention to Detail!

One of my life motto’s is a simple statement.  “It always helps to pay attention!”  I’ve share that with my kids, reminded myself to pay attention, and do my best to share that with others when it seems appropriate.  But what if you pay attention to the wrong things?  What if you’re focused, but your focus is on something that is not helpful to you?  I could pay attention to what I eat, but if I constantly eat unhealthy foods then I will become unhealthy.  The same truth applies to our spiritual health.  You may pay close attention to what the Bible says about the value of spending time in the Word, or the value or prayer, or the value of serving and using your spiritual gift, but unless you take the time to follow through with each of those, your spiritual life will be unhealthy.

Last week, I made spiritual gift inventories available to the church.  I asked each of you to take time to discover what your top two or three spiritual gifts are, write them on the card provided, and bring the card back to church.  I want you to know and value how God has wired you, and how He has gifted you to serve in His Kingdom.  Nothing should be more exciting to you as a believer than to fulfill God’s purpose for your life!  But I also want to make sure that there are places of service for you in our church.  I want to match your gift with service opportunities, so you can know God is using you uniquely in the life of our church.  Begin today by paying attention to who you are and how God has put you together, and share your top spiritual gifts with me so our church can pay attention to how you can best help and serve at CBC! Great days are ahead for us, and I want you to be a big part of how God wants to impact our church and our community.  I look forward to discovering what your spiritual gifts are!
