WEEKLY REFLECTIONS

Incredible

VBS finished last week and pardon the pun but it was Incredible. As we traveled around the world during the “Incredible Race” I couldn’t help but be excited and inspired. The smile on both kids’ and adults’ faces was so wonderful to see. I love when the kids walk up to me and tell me what they learned, just seeing that excitement was so great. But, the best thing might have actually been the adults that walked up doing the same thing. It amazes me the true power of God’s word and what happens when we lead with it at the front.

Speaking of God’s word leading, during VBS there were daily devotionals for the leaders. On the last day, Luke 10:25-37 was referenced and asks the question, “who is your neighbor?” In case you haven’t made the mental connection yet, that part of Luke is the section on the Good Samaritan. The question was asked to address how we interact with the world. Are we turning away from helping someone for *insert reasons* or are we loving others like Jesus would love us?

As one big event closes and the summer picks up, many of you will be out all over the place with vacations and or little trips with the kids. In those moments will you still show the love of Jesus with those you encounter?  Will you be the example like the Good Samaritan? What made him special is that Samaritans were culturally looked down upon, yet he still served God greatly. I think many people try to put themselves on pedestals when really we all are just sinners. And all sin will send us to hell without the Savior. So when we are out this summer take note from VBS and stop segregating sins and start showing the Love of Christ.
