WEEKLY REFLECTIONS

Patience is a Virtue…Apparently!

Many of us struggle with having enough patience to make it through something that requires patience.  You’ve probably prayed for patience, and the Lord made you wait for it, or He put you in a situation that tested your patience.  There is a whole other level of needed patience when you’re a parent!  Whether you’re waiting on your kids to get ready in the morning, waiting on them to respond with obedience, or patiently trusting God to change their heart.  That kind of patience is what makes the prayer wheel turn!

Is there any hope that you can have enough patience when you need it?  If you remember, Moses’ parents did something right.  There was a command from Pharaoh to kill all the newborn Hebrew boys, because he saw that the Hebrews were “too many and too mighty” for the Egyptians.  Moses’ parents hid him and eventually Moses was brought into Pharaoh’s house at 3 months old.  You’ll have to come to church on Sunday to hear the rest of the story!  But Moses was 80 years old when he went before Pharaoh to command for God’s people to be released, and he was 120 when he died after wandering around the desert for 40 years.  Moses’ mother never saw the fulfillment of God’s plan for her son.  What she did in faith to protect Moses as a baby, and praying for all he could do for the Lord as an adult, was simply an act of faith because she never saw how involved her son was in the plan of God!  Parents, and especially moms, never lose faith in the plan of God!  Even if you don’t live to see the fulfillment of what you’re praying for, keep praying!  Keep entrusting your kids and grandkids to the Lord, and keep trusting that God will use them for His Kingdom in His time and in His way!
